Heyyy! My first post! gah. Kinda nervous, but like…everyone does this blogging thing right? So no biggie!
Alright, let’s get to it. This top…it’s actually part of a set (photo by Dani Schmidek):
But in this post, I wanted to focus more on the top. I’ll give more details on the skirt soon – stay tuned!!
I wanted a loose fitting crop top. To get that, I used Simplicity – Cynthia Rowley #1873 but I left out the darts at the waist.
Because it’s linen, it’s not very heavy so when I wore it, it would raise up. It didn’t have any weight to it. I also thought it looked a tad plain. That’s where the brass chain comes in! I got it from a local bead shop on Queen West in Toronto called The Beadery. I can’t even lie…it was expensive!!! It cost $100 for 5ft! What was I thinking…
But it worked out just the way I wanted it to! It’s heavier, the top stays put and there’s just a little extra detail without going overboard.
Materials
Linen (shell & lining) – Fabricland
Invisible zipper – Nova Sewing Supplies
Brass Chain – The Beadery
Pattern: Simplicity – Cynthia Rowley #1873
Shoes: Top Shop | Skirt: F21
